| Wish Upon the hero Foundation fundraiser sets purpose of GLASSBORO Members of Rowan Student Government Association and Student University Programmers are joining forces using the university community to increase funds to the Wish Upon quite the hero Foundation. Through Holiday Helper, SGA annual weeklong philanthropic fundraiser held each November, students are looking to raise over $2,000 to benefit the Wish Upon the hero Foundation. Founded by 1994 Rowan alumnus Dave Girgenti, Wish Upon quite the hero is really a peertopeer social helping platform that connects folks need web-sites which grant their wishes and make up a difference. Since its founding in 2007, Wish Upon a Hero has granted more than 83,000 wishes. Wishes have included sets from surgeries for pets to new clothes for the kids to trips to Walt disney world to funds for chemotherapy drugs not covered by insurance. To improve funds for Wish Upon a Hero, SGA is accepting donations items on an auction to get held Nov. in the Pit in the Chamberlain Student Center. So far, donations have a corporate style FLAVIA espresso maker valued at over $1,000, a Coach bag, VIP tickets to Profstock and also a lobster and steak dinner for 10 donated by Sodexo Dining Services. SGA is accepting donations of products and gourmet gift baskets from members of the university community, in addition to local citizens.
